Lauching trend in this musical style, emerges the Brazilian musician Thiago Corrêa. Served in the broadcast as singer, speaker and music producer since 2000, worked on majors broadcast studios of Brazil creating jingles and musics pieces for respected advertisers.
Thiago has his music played in major radios stations with emphasis on single “A Grande Preocupação” (The bigest concern). Stands out for his contester and irreverent style, has a proposal spread of the Brazilian culture with songs that reflect the country’s reality, in a smart and humorous way. Redeeming features such as rock..s protest and rebellion and the samba..s joy, appears a new style of Samba-Rock!
Inspired by a music ideology arose more than 50 years ago which still survives in the main Brazilian cities, Thiago believes that the Samba-Rock is the “legitimate brazilian underground scene” that is currently in major cities in the world. From New York to Spain, from London to Paris. In the major pubs of brazilian music like a Guanabara in London, the Barcelona in Spain and the acclaimed Favela Chic in France.
And to draw attention for his CD, he runs a project called “Other Music” where every week he cover a successful pop song, doing it in samba-rock style, which can be downloaded for free on his website (www.thiagocorrea.com). Some of the songs covered are ‘Rehab’ by Amy Winehouse, Crazy Litle Thing Called Love’ by Queen, The Simpsons Theme, ‘Fergalicious’ by Fergie, Oompa Loompa song, ‘Unchain my Heart’ by Ray Charles, amongst others...
Thiago does a great blend of Jorje Ben..s swing, the intelligence of Chico Buarque lyrics, the blues and jazz..s harmonies, the samba..s simplicity and mix with the good and old rock..s attitude of the Chuck Berry, Queen, Beatles, to recreate the most accurate representacion of the current brazilian culture: The Samba-Rock!
